Right downtown

Not a mall, exactly. A block of downtown you can spend the day in.

Peterborough Square opened in the 1970s as a traditional enclosed retail mall. Over the decades it has quietly re-imagined itself into something the city actually needs: a community block with great food, arts classes, education services, honest local retail and the restored Showplace heritage theatre all under one roof.

It sits on George Street North beside City Hall and the clock tower, on one of Peterborough's oldest blocks.

A hidden gem

The best pizza in Peterborough without a line.

One reviewer put it better than we ever could: "Hidden gem. In the middle of downtown but basically deserted at most times. Great food, one of the best pizza places in Peterborough, and great Thai food for a good price. Quiet art and craft stores with a nice cafe downstairs."

That's exactly who we are. A place for locals who have time. Quiet mornings at the café. A woodturning class upstairs. The farmer's market on Saturday. A show at Showplace in the evening. No rush. No crowds.

"A wonderful space in the central city. Once a typical retail mall, now the lower level has transitioned to a unique mix of social and educational services interspersed with some interesting shops."
